Homework

Grade one students should do from 10 to 15 minutes of homework a day at most. You can expect the following kind of homework.

    1. Unfinished class work. Please help them return this work to school as soon as possible.

     2. Ask Me To. This is handed out on Friday and is to be returned by the next Thursday. There will be several tasks reflecting the work that was done in class during the week. These are to be done with an adult. Students will receive a sticker if the work is all done and returned on time.

    3. Home Reading starting sometime in October, once we've begun reading in small groups. Students are to practice reading to someone every day. Some sight words will also be included for practice. Please continue to read to them as well. This is still important for their reading development.

    4. Counting and number practice. Please practice regularly.  I will include a sheet with French number words with the first Ask Me To.  Don’t worry about getting the pronunciation perfect.  Expect your child to help you with that.   Students will be counting forward to 100, by twos to 30, by fives and tens to 100.  They will also be counting back between any two numbers on up to 100.
